Judge Savage

Personal
I live in Rockville, Maryland and have been married for over 35 years to James C. Savage, who is an attorney at the Montgomery County Attorney's Office. We have four daughters: Jennifer, who graduated from the University of Delaware and currently works in the human resources field in Northern Virginia; Sarah, who graduated from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and works as a special education teacher in Montgomery County and has four children; Emily, a recent graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Family Studies; and Claire, who graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Sociology.

I have been an Associate Judge of the Montgomery County Circuit Court, in the Juvenile Division since March 2002, and prior to that an Associate Judge in Montgomery County District Court from 1997-2002. Before I took the bench I worked as a Senior Assistant State's Attorney in Montgomery County from 1995-1997 and as an Assistant State's Attorney from 1988-1995. I also worked as an associate at Catterton, Kemp & Mason in Rockville, Maryland from 1986-1988. I interned for The Honorable Herbert F. Murray, United States District Court, in the summer of 1984 and I was a Teaching Fellow in the Department of History at Georgetown University from 1977-1978.

Education
I went to law school at the University of Maryland, and received my degree in 1986. I got my Master of Arts degree in American History at Rutgers University (1977) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seton Hall University (1967).

Professional Associations and Activities
I have been involved in numerous professional associations and activities including: Vice President, National Association of Women Judges, Maryland Chapter, May 2003-present; Member, Child Justice Action Committee 2002-present; Chair, Representation Subcommittee, Foster Care Court Improvement Project, March 2002-present; President, Montgomery County Women's Bar Foundation (distributes scholarships for college and law school students), 2002-present; Chairperson, Public Defender Advisory Board, August 2002-present; Founding Member, Teen Court Project, 1996-present; Chair, "Preparing for Success" Conference for High School Girls, 2001-present; Member, Maryland State, Montgomery County and Women's Bar Associations; Past-President, Women's Bar Association, 2001-2002; Member, State Board of Law Examiners, 1996-1997.
